First magical look...
14 February 1997, 8:30 AM Churchgate Station, it was not that happening day, because I had to attend a Chemistry lecture by Professor Gyarah. I never understood chemistry and real meaning of his surname. I had to attend that lecture forcibly, why, because I was is in the college blacklist for less attendance. With those drooped shoulders and vindictive face to complete attendance requirement, got down from Mumbai's darling, the over-crowed vexed up local train. After traveling for almost 45 minutes I forgot whether God had given me a right leg also, it got numb as someone else was traveling on it for last 14 minutes. Traveling in this environment just to attend college was nothing less than a uncanny battle.
It was bit more crowded that day....looking at everyone's face I was just wondering whether everyone wanted to attend Prof. Gyarah's lecture, was feeling pity for everyone in that mood. It was my daily habit to look for the watch, hanging inside the Churchgate Station, from this watch I used to decide whether I should walk to college or just follow other option, run to college. I did the same, got down from the train and just turned my head to the right to look at the watch, an errant passenger from behind pushed me, due to the jerk my sight fell on a girl and immediately felt as if the announcer was playing a song, "Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga..jaise khilta gulab, jaise shayar ka khawb..." for me in whole Churchgate Station. She was just a compartment away from me, I just had a small glimpse of her. I wanted to move towards the left after getting down but was following her towards the right, just to get more such small glimpses of her. I know I was flowing like a unaddressed wave which would collide somewhere in just short time. Don't know whether I was enjoying that or what but I was just flowing.
I tried hard to see her rather I made every attempt to see her completely. She was fair girl, curly hair, good height, pink lips,no jewelry, had wonderful statistics, felt as if God The Supreme did special over-time to carve this beauty. The only jewelry that she was carrying was her beauty of simplicity. She was wearing white T-Shirt and blue jeans. No bangles ,no earrings. I wanted to ask 'Oh heavenly, creator of living and dead...when and how you created this picturesque living being'. I was just looking at her and walking, the Almighty know where I was walking. I dashed with the TC, he asked for ticket, I gave whatever came first to my hand from my jeans pocket, it was my college ID-Card, he shouted 'ticket', I was still observing her without giving respect to the TC, this time a 10 Rupee note came to my hand...I handed him that. This time he was very angry, and was feeling as if I was bribing him. He said, 'Chal police station tujhe dikhata hu'.... the moment I heard the word 'POLICE' a deep sound traveled through both my ear-drums. I was forced to get back to reality. Looking at the TC , I said sorry and showed him my monthly travelling pass and vanished from his sight as early as possible.
I was wondering and looking out for the girl, to my dismay, she vanished away from the sight. Ohh Father Almighty...where has she gone. Clueless, I left the place, and wandered where I was heading, I quickly remembered about Prof. Gyarah's Chemistry lecture. I remember I could have ran faster than Milkha Singh to reach college.
Even in college the chemical locha in brain was creating a problem for me to concentrate in the lecture. That day, during the lecture I felt as if was not having any fear, I just stood up and walked out of the lecture room, the Professor along with students were just looking at me. I just went to the basket ball court and was thinking of going back to Churchgate Station, just to fetch my chances of having a rosy glimpse of her. Yes, this is what I did. I sat till 6 PM at station, but couldn't find her anywhere.
Next day, I planned everything and researched a bit. The train I traveled was, 7:46 Andheri-Churchgate fast local. Normally Mumbai's regularly traveling people don't miss the regular train, then don't even miss the compartment in which they travel, as even their friends travel in same way. Its a way Mumbai people meet their friends in whatever small time they have. I also got into the same train, same compartment. Was dying hard to get down at Churchgate Station.
Its Churchgate Station. Today, I was sure that I will not look at watch, but I will look where my heart was asking me to look at, yes exactly right of compartment. I was getting irritated as almost whole ladies compartment was empty, but I still could not see her. A missing feeling cloud was just getting created, I was about to turn by back..Ohh Holy, she is there!! My Lord, you are there. For me this was the biggest proof God could have given of his presence. Again the same song struck my brain. I was motionless for few seconds. Just wanted the world also to stop for few seconds for me so that I could go near to her and just say.. "You look super stunning. Please dont come in this train tomorrow, I miss my concentration in Prof Gyarah's chemistry lecture." The pink and white combination dress, was creating a unstable environment for me. Learning a quick lesson from yesterday, today I was carrying my monthly-pass in my hand so that no TC could disturb me today. I was determined today, to know her college name.
I was following her as if the force of gravity was not towards the ground but towards her. I am sorry Sir Isaac Newton, for discovering Gravity the other way, rather at that point I felt I could have also proved that where gravity lies when she is in front of me. I followed her. She took a cab outside station, I also took another cab and asked the driver to follow her.
