Is my TEAM doing good? How to make it GOOD?

The biggest concern in any industry is brain-drain or attrition rate . Why does this happen?
What starts with one employee spreads on to other team members and thus breaking the team flow and enthusiasm.
It is the duty of a leader to check where his/her team is heading. What more value-addition the team requires. Does the team require any specific training to learn more? What are the teams expectations? Is there any issue with the team or any other concern? Is the team satisfied?
Teams satisfaction also depend on various factors like:
1. Long stay in company
2. Due to long stay is a person taken for granted.
3. No growth[No proper 'experience:salary' ratio, No Promotions, No Onsite Project exposure]
4. Type of work given or is he/she overloaded?
So how to know whether your TEAM is doing good and everything is fine in the team?
Normally management only think on priority-basis about the employees who have resigned, because management needs to take immediate care of the baby who is currently crying. Rather a employee is only noticed when he/she is on notice period :) But why should we wait till that time. If the employee performs well and if he/she deserves growth then why shouldn't he/she be compensated for what he/she deserves. This could help in reducing lot of real brain-drain.
Following points can be taken into consideration:
1.Keep a regular check on each team-member whether he/she is performing well? If not then, why?
2.Address every issue of each and every team-member.
3.NEVER-NEVER-NEVER NEGLECT any team-member's issue. A small negligence can create a blunder in whole team and disrupt the integrity of the team, leading to inefficiency in team-output. REMEMBER Tata-Nano car when it was introduced, it not only ruled market and but people's heart too majoritily by mouth-to-mouth publicity ONLY, it saved lot of money that was required for advertisement. A good business strategy. Similarly negative thoughts spread doubly faster than positive thoughts.
4.If a team-member is not keeping well, instead of thinking that he is lying and spying on him/her again and again, believe in him, ask him to take rest. If he needs a break, give it. He will return with full-boost and confidence in you.
5.Always have one-to-one meeting with every team-member once atleast in 2-3 months, inquire about his growth and does he have any issue and does he have any suggestion. By doing so, the employee gets a sense of respect for himself and you too as he has been considered equally in the team and there is a value for his suggestion.
6.Employees are also human-being and not machines, so boost your team-members and applaud him whenever he/she has done something good, not only in mail but also by visiting his desk or in any stand-up meeting and convey your message personally.
7.Never over-power your team-members and accept if you have made a mistake than pushing it on to team-members. This adds lot of positive value both to the team-members and lead too, as next time they wont hide their mistake too, which could lead to disaster later on. A stitch in time saves nine.
By keeping a track of above points, one can surely say 'Yes my TEAM is doing GOOD.'

Team Management v/s Positive Thinking

Team Management involves lot, lot and lot of ingredients in it, like team size, team's project and technical knowledge, team's task, assigning task to individual team member, assigning adhoc task, recent client related high priority issue, resource and his ability, target completion date, resolving team's task related issue, set-up or environment related issue, not over-burdening the team-members etc, etc, etc... By the end of each day is the per-day target completion achieved? If not then what step needs to be taken to achieve it, whether to accept the pre-prepaid 'Plan A' or 'Plan B' or even the unpre-paired one 'Plan C'? Summing the above we get the over-heated excel sheet called "Project and Resource Planning".

Is this is what "Project and Resource Planning" called? While achieving the target we end up pushing and pumping the engineer towards completion and target achievement[expecting with perfection].I personally don't feel this is the only way to achieve it. With my view, there is one more important ingredient which is missed above, rather for me it weighs 40% in overall project life-cycle and that ingredient is 'Positive Thinking'.

Now lets try including this ingredient in each and every phase. Be positive with your team, have full trust in your team, let each and every team-member know how valuable that engineer is for you, project and for the company. Be positive when mistake is done by any team-member than scolding him/her and showing this was biggest and craziest mistake you have ever seen. Tell him/her we are humans, we tend to do mistake, but understand how the mistake was made and make sure we don't repeat it. I am quite sure after understanding the mistake process, it wont be repeated for sure and the engineer would land up with more perfect outcome.

Be positive while planning the project plan and have full confidence and faith in the team and make sure you explain the team that it's due to teams ability and confidence in each team-member the plan is made in that way. The positive vibes surely reach every team-member.

It is not possible sometimes to achieve the per-day target completion of planned work. Be positive and tell the team-member, 'Its okay', I am quite sure tomorrow you would be able to complete your work. Consider today's day as an average day. Please check the result the next day, you will surely find maximum output from that team-member and others too, automatically all target dates are achieved and project is completed on time with more precise and scrutinized results with surely planned 'Plan A' and no 'Plan B or Plan C' is required.

This is the power of Positive Thinking!!

[Surely you must be having more such examples of Positive Thinking, please share and also give reviews on above article]
